Psychodynamic Counsellor to young people and adults
I consider we are an array of emotions and moods and at times can feel anxious or low, perhaps due to something that is currently happening in our life or perhaps we are not sure why we feel that way, only that something feels not quite right - and by sharing that experience with someone not within our family/friendship circle, helps to bring understanding and a sense of balance back into our life.
The way I work is to focus upon you and what you would like to bring to the session – seeing you as an individual with your own story and experience. Psychodynamic counselling works with both past and present experiences to help you make more sense of your feelings, thoughts and behaviours, thus helping you to reach more clarity and restfulness in your life.
Over my counselling career I have worked with children/young people in care, many of whom presented with trauma, anxiety, depression and self-harming behaviours. Part of my role was to offer consultation to other professionals to help bring a greater understanding of the behaviours stemming from early and later traumatic experiences. My work has also been with adults presenting with relationship problems; mental health issues; trauma; bereavement and general unhappiness in their lives. Alongside my private practice I presently manage and teach at the University of Leicester on their counselling programme and manage a voluntary counselling agency.
Areas I work with include:
I also offer:
